Go to this website http://www.sunderlandschools.org/mfl-sunderland/resources-fr-ks4-txt.htm and find the textx with the titles below.
Read the texts. Copy the questions into an email, add you answers and email to me (so that if I set this homework for someone else they can't sneak a peek at your answers!)
Text 1 - Personal Identification.
1. How old is Amelie 2. What does her dad do? 3. How much older is her dad than her mum? 4. What is the name of her sister's school? 5. What year is Amelie in at school? 6. What star sign is Amelie? 7. What 3 adjectives does she use to describe herself? 8. Why does she like Mel Gibson?
Text 2 - School Day (underneath the first text) 1. How does Jacques describe his school? (2 marks) 2. How long roughly does it take Jacques to get to school? 3. What happens after lesson 4? 4. Why does he go to his Gran's for lunch? 5. How long is each lesson? 6. What negative aspects does Jacques mention about his school?
Go to this website http://www.sunderlandschools.org/mfl-sunderland/resources-fr-ks4-txt.htm and find the two textx below.
Text 1 - Des vacances désastreuses Read the text and complete the accompanying worksheet which is also on the website. When you've completed the worksheet email it to me at frenchblog.pethybridge@googlemail.com.
Text 2 - French School Day Write a list of differences in French between a school day in France and a school day at Oxclose. Use the following sentence format: À Oxclose on … mais en France on… (At Oxclose one… but in France one…) or À Oxclose il y a mais en France il y a (At Oxclose there is… but in France there is…)
I'd like both activities done by the last day of term please :)
Here is what I would like you to try and do to improve your listening... Go to http://www.linguastars.com The Username and Password are the same as for linguascope (see me for a reminder!)
Go to the topic Les Vacances, then to the introduction role play. If you click on the question mark you'll notice that the language in the speech bubble changes to English.
I'd like you to grab some paper and listen to each snippet, and read the English translation. Then note down what you think the French is i.e. what do you hear? Reading the English should help you with this.
Once you've gone through the conversation and jotted down the French, go back and change the language back to French by clicking on the question mark, and check your notes against the French.
Don't be disheartened if you've made lots of mistakes - it's a useful exercise and you'll get better with practice! If you find it way too tricky, try keeping the speech bubbles in French for a couple of runs through before changing them to English and see how much you can remember.
If you're stuck, email me or post a comment on here.
What I suggest you do is copy them and save them somewhere you can access them easily. When you've written answers for each question, email them to me and I'll have a look
Well done Nathan! For listening practice have a look at the post for Elliott. Using Linguastars to help practice listening is a good start because you can see the words as you listen to them.
Don't forget I need your coursework by Tuesday 6th January!
J’espere que vous passez des bonnes vacances avec vos familles. N’oubliez pas de faire un peu de travaille, surtout d’apprendre le vocabulaire au dessus !

And to do French in college i need to have a grade B.. as if il get that :(
Of course I can give you the homework in class. For some of the homework you will need to use a computer, because we need to work on listening skills. And I will find a written homework for you to do once a week as well.
We're going to start working on preparing for the speaking test so if you want to do some work before Monday you should go onto the Frenchblog and look at the speaking section - download one of the sets of questions and save them to your area so you can work on them. And don't forget to email or put a post on the blog if you need any more help
Now that we can see the end of the coursework tunnel, I want to focus on the speaking exam and building up vocabulary on a regular basis. As I mentioned in your reports, you will all need to complete the general conversation questions on the FrenchBlog website. It is up to you to save these questions in a place you can access them at school and at home.
I will put together some games for revising vocabulary - any suggestions would be welcome for this.
There are some new additions to the FrenchBlog website. I've added some games to the vocabulary section. We will begin having weekly vocab tests again after the coursework is finished to start playing the games to get the words into your heads.
I have also recorded the conversation questions so you will be able to listen to them to help you practice. More about that to follow. Mrs Pethybridge
Click on Start Ma France. This will bring up a new box with a French man giving an introduction. You can watch the intro or press 'skip'. This will bring you to a map showing the topics. Click on 'Work', then 'start unit'. It will give you the option to do the interactive quiz while watchingh the video - I would like you to choose 'yes'.
Now it's up to you - I want you to watch the videos, explore the activities and experiment with having subtitles on and off. When you've had a good look around I want you to post comments - any thoughts you have on the videos, were they interesting? did you find it ok to follow? did you watch it a few times or just once?
Comments by Monday please -this is homework so detentions will be given to those who haven't posted comments on the blog by Monday.
At first the videos were difficult to folow but i got used to it! It really helped my pronounciation skills. Although the games were engaging i did prefer the videos as they gave me an insight into the french culture which is vital when learing a language.
